Alex Pancho Rojas (Camiri, Bolivia, 1995) visited us last October as part of the Language Revitalization Training Program. He is Guaraní and a speaker of the Guaraní language. Around eight million people speak Guaraní across Bolivia, Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay. It holds official language status in Bolivia and Paraguay, as well as in certain regions of the other two countries. A specialist in journalism and communication, Pancho Rojas comes from Camiri, often considered Bolivia’s oil capital. Yet it is not oil that guides his path, but his Guaraní identity.
