The Basque NGO Development Coordination Network returns to the Basque Parliament: “What has happened to the commitments made under the Basque Cooperation Law?”

On Wednesday, 14 October, Nerea Uriarte and Susana Piera appeared before the Basque Parliament’s Committee on Equality and Development Cooperation, representing the Basque NGO Development Coordination Network.

Two and a half years have passed since the Basque Law on Cooperation and Solidarity came into force. The law was approved almost unanimously, and now is the time to assess whether it is being implemented.

In addition to reaffirming the importance of cooperation, solidarity and the work of Basque development NGOs, they called for compliance with the law, proper planning and monitoring of its implementation. They also requested a review of Article 10.4 (amended in 2025) and progress towards the 0.7% target in the 2027 budget.
